  • Pre-Application Information and Questionnaire:

Applications submitted late on Thursdays or on Fridays or Saturdays typically will not be screened until the following week. All of our rescue pets reside in foster homes until they are adopted (we do not have a physical shelter/kennel), so we schedule approved meets at our Peppermint Pig Thrift and Gift store. Due to limited store hours, fosters' and adopters’ schedules, we schedule meets on Saturdays between 1pm and 4pm. We have a very high demand from local kill shelters to rescue more dogs, so if you are not available to adopt, we cannot hold this dog for you if another approved applicant is available to adopt them. Our goal is to find the right home for each dog as soon as possible so that we can free up their foster home for another dog in need of rescue. If you are not available Saturday, please select "No" and then indicate when you are available in the space provided. Thank you.
The age of each rescue pet is listed in their bio on our website.
Our adoption radius for puppies under 6 months old is within a 1 hour radius of Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue, and for dogs over 6 months old is within 2 hours of Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue. This may vary for individual dogs, variations will be noted in their bio on our website and we will not make exceptions otherwise. Please see our "Adoption Radius" tab on our website for more information.

Puppy vaccines are included with the adoption. The puppies must return to PPAR to receive these, there will be no exceptions. Puppy Vaccines are scheduled on Saturdays, typically between noon and 1pm.
Puppy spay/neuters are included with the puppy adoption fee. A separate puppy contract will be signed at the time of adoption to ensure this is completed by the date they are due. Permanent guardianship of the puppy is contingent on your compliance with our contract.
PLEASE DO NOT INDICATE THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND OUR ADOPTION PROCESS TAB IF YOU HAVE NOT. Questions asked after your application is submitted/received may not be answered if they are already answered for you in Our Adoption Process tab. We are a 100% volunteer operated rescue, and we receive an extremely high volume of communications daily through our multiple online platforms, on top of all the rescue work we are busy doing. It is your responsibility to make sure you meet the criteria and/or requirements in our Adoption Process tab before completing our Adoption Application. We ask that you take our rescue volunteers' time into consideration and read the information that we provide for you. Thank you.

  • Application for Adoption:

  • Please indicate years/months/etc.
  • If your landlord is a friend or family member, please indicate this in your answer.
  • If this person lives in the home, they must be listed as Co-applicant. If they do not live in the home, please select that you RENT the home and list them as your landlord.
Any other adult in the household who will share responsibility, financially or general care, for this pet or will be effected in any way by your decision to adopt this pet, needs to be listed as co-applicant. (i.e. Spouse, Live-in Parent, Significant other, Owner of the home, etc.) If it is determined by Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue that an accountable adult is not listed as co-applicant, it may be assumed that all adults are not supportive of your decision to adopt this dog and your application may be denied any further processing.
  • Please count yourself and your co-applicant (if applicable) as well as any other adults in the home.
  • Please take note of the section in our Adoption Process tab regarding young children and adoptions.
  • PLEASE TAKE NOTE: Pet allergies are most commonly caused by proteins in an animal's saliva and/or urine, not their hair/fur/dander as commonly claimed. While some breeds and mixes may shed less than others, all dogs do shed, and require proper grooming to prevent fur matting. Please do not apply for a dog under the impression that they will be non-shedding, or hypo or non-allergenic. We make no claims or guarantees as to the allergen or shedding potential of any of our rescue dogs. Thank you.

  • *Keep in mind that your work schedule and health may change over the lifetime of your pet(s), or even when you are just home sick. It is best to think about how responsibility for the dog would be divided, should these things occur.
