  • Special Needs

Meet Alexl! Alex is a neutered, male Great Pyrenees / Airdale Terrier mix. He currently weighs in about 30 pounds. This giant fluffy boy is almost 3 months of age, being born on 10/21/23. Alex is a spunky puppy who is very curious. He loves the cold and playing outdoors. He is a big fluff ball of hair right now. The tip of his pyrenees tail is white and he has dark edges on his ears. Alex has been vet checked and received his 1st round of puppy shots on Dec 18. He has also been wormed according to weight five times. Alex is going to be a very large dog with he is full grown. Male Great Pyrs typically weigh between 100 and 120 pounds at maturity. The whole little of puppies have been socialized with children, adults and mom and dad dogs at the owners home. They are loving and sweet and will be very large dogs when they are full grown. Great Pyrenees were originally bred as guardians of livestock, a role they continue to excel in today. Pyrs are fiercely loyal, especially with children. While they can be reserved around strangers, they are not typically aggressive without reason. Pyrs typically have an independent nature and strong protective instincts. We are looking for potential adopters that are familiar with this breed and those that have experience with large breed guardian dogs. Meet Archie! Archie is a 1.5 year old male, Lab/Husky mix. He currently weighs in at 50 pounds. Archie's family reports that he is a great dog! "Archie is honestly one of the sweetest baby boys I had the honor of raising. He's older now but from the beginning he always wanted to be close to people." Archie is a very active dog and ideally, his new home will have lots of yard space for him to run and play. We are looking for specific adopters with active dog breed experience. Archie loves to go run zoomies dog but also loves to sit and watch tv/sports. Any sport that has a ball on the screen he's running back and forth trying to get the ball. Archie is house broken and crate trained. Archie is also always down for cuddles on the couch or destroying doggie toys. Never a dull moment with him tearing up toys to get the squeaker out. He also plays well with other dogs. Overall, Archie is a very fun loving sweetie that needs a home with active family. COURTESY POST: PEPPERMINT PIG IS HELPING TO FIND THIS PUP A FOREVER HOME. • Goldendoodle
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Housebroken
  • Vaccinations up to date

Meet Mr. Blondie! Blondie is a neutered, small male Goldendoodle. He is 1.5 years old, 45 pounds and full of energy! Blondie was lovingly named after Clint Eastwood’s character in old western movies. He is great at hiking and playing fetch. He is crate trained and house broken. He does well for the groomer and bathing. He has a very kind heart and wants SO hard to be a good dog. He is just not so great at it! Blondie has been to a behaviorist as well as training classes. His foster family reports, "He needs firm, consistent boundaries and GENTLE correction. Any firm 'No' or physical reaction to Blondie means WRESTLEMANIA ON! All hell breaks loose. He jumps, nips, twirls, barks and engages in all the poor manners. But the gentle correction and consistency is where he excels. He wants to do what you want and really wants to be a good dog." Blondie likes other dogs and children and cats. He just likes them too hard. Dogs his size and larger that are confident are excellent playmates. We are looking for a loving, dog experienced family, who is active and accustomed to caring for energetic breed dogs. Any children or cats in the home must be comfortable living with dogs. Blondie's new home should also have experience with integrating adult dogs. We do not adopt dogs out under the impression, expectations or claims that they are non or hypo-allergenic, and/or non or low shedding. BLONDIE will require regular grooming since he will shed, which can and will cause matting and skin issues if his coat is not properly groomed and cared for. Blondie does shed and is not "hypoallergenic." Blondie will need regular brushing at home and professional grooming every 6 to 9 weeks. COURTESY POST: PEPPERMINT PIG IS HELPING TO FIND THIS PUP A FOREVER HOME. THIS IS A DOG IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT NEEDS YOUR HELP! We beg people to please act responsibly and like Bob Barker always said, "Make sure your pets are spayed and neutered!" Momma dog is the large Doberman pincher in the photo. Father to the pups was a Bassett hound, pictured above. Caitlin's foster has wonderful things to say about this little lady! "Caitlin likes to be held and rocked to sleep at night. She LOVES kids and other dogs. Caitlin is doing great with potty on the pee pads and keeps her puppy pen clean. She has this funny habit of running sideways when she gets really excited. Caitlin's most favorite time of the day is mealtime!" Bassett hounds in general are known to be low-key, but they can also be stubborn in nature. This breed is known to do well in family environments, thanks to their sweet nature and ability to get along so well with children. Basset Hounds are very social and so enjoy the company of their owners for most of the day. They best suit a family home where there is always someone around and lots of opportunities to be with people. $275 Adoption Fee All puppies are dewormed, started on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. Meet Mr. Chip! Chip is a young, neutered male brown Tabby cat. He is estimated at about 5 months of age and weighs around 6 pounds. Chip came into our rescue as a kitten with his two siblings. They were sickly stray kittens at the time and were underweight and terrified. Our amazing foster mom has worked with this litter patiently, until all but Chip has found their forever homes. Chip is a very sweet boy who loves affection. He plays well with other cats and will purr endlessly in your arms. He still has a bit of flight reaction to sudden movement, but we know with time, love and patience, this will all become a thing of the past. This sweet man has had monthly flea prevention and has been dewormed. He has been combo tested with negative results. He has been rabies and FVRCP vaccinated. Meet Clyde! Clyde is a 3-4 year old, neutered male, Terrier mix. He currently weighs in at 12 pounds. Clyde is a loving and playful little man! He had a rough start to life, being transferred from home to shelter, to 2 more homes before coming to our rescue. But just a few weeks at his foster home, feeling loved and secure, has brought out the best in this little guy! His foster reports that he is "her little shadow," following her from room to room in the house and snuggling up on the couch at night. One of Clyde's most favorite things to do is toss his kong toy up in the air, playing easily by himself. Clyde is housebroken, crate trained and walks well on a leash. He has met other dogs and is playful and comfortable in their presence. He does bark at strangers, so he would be a great little watch dog for someone living alone! Clyde's foster crates him nearby overnight, but allows him to free roam during the day with no issues whatsoever. Looking for a small friend that will always be happy to see you enter the door? Look no further than this wonderful little boy! Clyde is just waiting for his furever home. Adoption Fee $165 Adoption Radius is within 2 hours of Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue. Meet Cooper! Cooper is a 10 months old, neutered male, Beagle/Hound mix. He currently weighs in about 28 pounds. Cooper is a very high energy dog which means he would highly benefit from having an owner that is active as well. He enjoys going for long walks and sniffing everything along the way while hiking. It is unknown how he does with children but he absolutely is a lover of his adult people. Cooper really enjoys being around humans and gets super excited around them! He does know basic commands such as sit, lay down, and spin. This boy is very food motivated when it comes to training. He does currently pull when walking on the leash but with time and patience he could easily walk with loose lead. COURTESY POST: PEPPERMINT PIG IS HELPING TO FIND THIS PUP A FOREVER HOME. THIS IS A DOG IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT NEEDS YOUR HELP! Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue is assisting Cooper's current owner with re-homing. Cooper is not currently in a Peppermint Pig Foster home, but we will be handling the screening of adoption applications and meet and greets. We want to make sure Cooper finds his perfect forever home. $165 rehoming donation kindly requested (made to Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue 501c3 so we can continue to help other animals in need). Meet Doris Day!! Miss Doris Day is a 10 month old, spayed female American Exotic Bully. She currently weighs in at 45 pounds and is very special girl indeed! Doris's story starts out with a rough beginning. We received a call from a local vet asking us to help out a sweet dog in desperate need of surgery. Turns out that her owner, a breeder of exotic bullies, upon finding out that she had a prolapsed rectum, decided to wait instead of taking her immediately to a vet professional to be seen. By the time that she was in the vet office, so much damage had been done that the vets recommended emergency surgery to repair the damage. The breeder opted for euthanizing this sweet girl, even though she was a beautiful young girl of only 6 months, with a whole life ahead of her. Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue stepped up and gave this girl a second chance. At this point Doris has undergone 3 surgeries to repair her bowels. She is on a special diet and will likely need to be for the rest of her life. Doris needs a compassionate patient adopter who will work with her medical issues and treat her like the queen that she is. Her personality is the most wonderful, loving, excitable little wart hog that you will ever meet! She gets along so wonderfully with other dogs, playfully running and wrestling with the rest of the crowd. If you are looking for a love bug, a snuggler, and someone to greet you with enthusiasm each time you walk into a room, Miss Doris Day is the girl for you! $350 Adoption Fee All Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested, current on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. A Fenced Yard is required to adopt. Meet Enzo! Enzo is a 2.5 year old, neutered male, white German shepherd/Lab mix. He currently weighs in at 100 pounds. Enzo's family reports that he is a great dog! He has spent time in a board and train situation and passed with flying colors. He is incredibly loyal once he gets to know you. Enzo loves to hike in the woods, sniff and play. He follows commands very well, but can be reactive to other dogs and humans that he doesn't know. Enzo would do best in a home that doesn't have a lot of random people coming in and out of the house. His current family has several young kids with lots of people coming and going and high level of activity in the home. They are devoted to keeping Enzo with them and continuing his training, until a better home-life situation can be found for him. Enzo will need to be with someone who will continue his training. He is very active and ideally, his new home will have lots of yard space for him to run and play. Enzo is house broken and crate trained. We are looking for specific adopters with shepherd breed experience, those that are comfortable setting and sticking to important boundaries with large breed dogs. We are looking for a quiet home with few visitors and overall, adopters that have an understanding and respect for protective animals such as Enzo. COURTESY POST: PEPPERMINT PIG IS HELPING TO FIND THIS PUP A FOREVER HOME. THIS IS A DOG IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT NEEDS YOUR HELP! Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue is assisting the current owner with re-homing. Enzo is not currently in a Peppermint Pig Foster home, but we will be handling the screening of adoption applications and meet and greets. We want to make sure he finds a suitable, new forever home. Meet Jack & Jill! Jack and Jill are 1 year old, male and female, Red Fox Labradors. They currently weighs in around 65 pounds each. Jack & Jill were taken in by a good samaritan after being dumped on a farm in central KY late last year. The pair was taken in, crate trained, spayed and neutered, and received all their necessary vetting. Both are healthy, active and loving dogs that are great with other dogs, kids and cats. This pair is now ready to find their forever families. Jack and Jill are both very smart, loving, sweet lap dogs that are very obedient inside the house. Both are calm inside the crate, but need an active family able to get them out of the house daily for runs, walks and to expend their abundant lab energy. Are you the right fit for these babies? Love hiking and need a partner? Look no further than these two beauties. COURTESY POST: PEPPERMINT PIG IS HELPING TO FIND THESE PUPS A FOREVER HOME. AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Meet Karl! 11 months old as of 1/14/23, Karl is neutered. Great Pyrenees/Boxer mix. 2 hr adoption radius. Currently weighs over 50 lbs. Great Pyrenees were bred centuries ago to work with shepherds and herding dogs in the Pyrenees Mountains of Spain. The dog’s job was to watch the flock and deter predators, whether wolves, bears, or livestock rustlers. Great Pyrenees are an immensely powerful working dog, bred for their protective natures. Their courage when defending the flock has always been legendary. Karl, as is true to his breed, is a vigilant guardian of his home and family. He would benefit from an experienced adopter, with previous large breed and/or Great Pyr experience. Karl does well with other dogs, especially puppies, and would do well with another calm centered dog in the home that can help him gain confidence in new situations. Karl is potty trained and crate trained. Given the opportunity he would love to sleep in bed with his human! He is very sweet and lovable, and completely devoted to the people he feels are his family. He does not always do well with strangers, and for this reason we are looking for a quiet home with no children and a LOW traffic level of visitors. $195 Adoption Fee All puppies are dewormed, started on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. Karl is also neutered. All puppies will be adopted with current, age appropriate vaccines, given by Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue. Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue will provide their puppy series DAPP vaccines, given at 6, 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age. Karl has received all of his puppy series of shots. The spay/neuter and puppy vaccines are included with the puppy adoption fee. Karl is already neutered. Karl has a 2 hour adoption radius because vaccinations and neuter are complete. On application, check that you are adopting a puppy but if you live within 2 hr radius (via Google maps from your address to ours 8454 Beechmont Ave Cincinnati, Ohio 45255, then click yes that you are within the radius even though the question is asking if you are an hour away) Please see our Adoption Radius tab on our website for more info, here: https://peppermintpiganimalrescue.org/adoption-radius/ Along with other criteria evaluated in the adoption application, a Fenced Yard is required to adopt. OUR RESIDENT CATS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. If you've shopped in our thrift store, you've probably seen our resident cats hanging out in the clothing section or on the cat tower. Moe and Larry are always hanging around inside our Thrift Store greeting everyone who comes in. Our feline friends are no longer available for adoption, due to going so long with no adoption interest, they have made their home in our store and are quite comfortable there with lots of love and attention from our volunteers and shoppers 🙂 If you would like to help us care for any of our feline friends, please feel free to drop of donations of Fresh Step clumping cat litter or Temptations brand Cat Treats. Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue is a no-kill rescue. If you would like to sponsor one of these rescue animals, or any of our adoptable rescue animals, please go to the DONATE tab on our website at PeppermintPigAnimalRescue.org to make a secure, tax deductible PayPal donation. ALL donations allow us to help the animals you see here and many others. THANK YOU!

Meet Piper! Piper is a young female, Doberman / Husky mix! The P puppies are just 4 months old (as of 2/17/24) and weigh about 18 pounds each. Piper is a playful puppy! She especially loves playing with other dogs in the foster home. Piper's foster reports, "This girl LOVES to run and play. She adores stuffed toys and a good stick." She and her brother Parker are rocking out the crate training and rarely have accidents overnight. They will need some extra love and affection from adopters, along with patience as they didn't have the most loving start to life from their humans. Piper and the rest of our P puppy litter came from an owner surrender situation. Sadly, they did not have their companion pets at home spayed or neutered, ended up with an accidental litter of pups and no financial means or ability to care for them. As a no-kill animal rescue, we are happy to help find forever homes for puppies in need like these guys. Please remember how often this type of situation happens and like Bob Barker, PLEASE spread the word about how important it is to have your pets spayed and neutered! $195 Adoption Fee All puppies are dewormed, started on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. All puppies will be adopted with current, age appropriate vaccines, given by Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue. Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue will provide their puppy series DAPP vaccines, given at 6, 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age. Only the 16 week shots are remaining. Puppy adopters will be will be required to bring the puppy back to Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue to receive any remaining puppy vaccines after adoption. Puppy adopters will also be required to bring the puppy to our vet for their spay/neuter surgery after they receive their 16 week vaccination from us. The spay/neuter and puppy vaccines are included with the puppy adoption fee. We have a strict one hour puppy adoption radius, puppy adopters must be within one hour of Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue. Meet Spotty! Spotty is a young, female Grey and White Tuxedo girl. She is estimated at just a year of age (on 1/1/24) and weighs 7 pounds. Momma cat, Spotty, was found roaming around the city, obviously pregnant and in much need of a warm home. Our foster scooped Spotty up, quickly got her home to a warm nesting spot, where days later her kittens were born. Her babies are Dillon and his brother Devon, who were born on Christmas Eve! Spotty's kittens are now over 9 weeks old, weaned and Spotty is ready to find her forever home! This sweet momma cat has had monthly flea prevention, is microchipped and has been dewormed. She has been combo tested with negative results. Our partner vets have signed off with a clean bill of health! Feeling a little loney? Need a sweet companion in your life? Meet Teacup! Teacup is a young female, possible Boxer + Lab mix. Teacup is estimated at just 5 weeks old (as of 3/16/24) and weighs 5.4 pounds. Teacup and her litter mates appear to have been dumped at a very young age at a local park. We pulled her from the county shelter as soon as we possibly could, given that puppies are susceptible to all kinds of illnesses when exposed to shelter environments. She inevitably had a bad case of kennel cough, but is on the mend with medications and lots of love in her foster home. Teacup is just a little sweetheart! She will need some extra love and affection from adopters, along with patience as she didn't have the most loving start to life from their humans. $195 Adoption Fee All puppies are dewormed, started on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. Meet Wally! Wally is a 3-4 year old, neutered male, Pitsky (Terrier and Husky mix). He currently weighs in about 45 pounds. Wally recently came to us from a distraught lady, who found him starving and likely dumped in a supermarket parking lot. As you can tell from this photo, taken on DAY 1, Wally was terrified! Since Wally has moved into an experienced foster home with several other dogs, he has gradually started to warm up and is gaining some much needed confidence. This petite, lean and muscular boy is SUPER sweet and absolutely loves to play with other dogs. Wally is not quite adapted to a crate, but is slowly getting there. He prefers to be a lap dog. We are looking for dog savvy adopters, willing to give this boy time, patience and above all else, the LOVE he so deserves! Meet Walnut! Walnut is a 1 year and 4 month old neutered male, mixed breed pup. He currently weighs 45 pounds. What an amazing dog Walnut is! This guy truly deserves the best life! He has already completed 6 weeks of training with Cincinnati Dog Training Academy and is ready to find his new family. He is loving and playful and active! He is full of energy and would definitely do best with a large yard, and plenty of room to run. Walnut does not believe in personal space, and wants nothing more than to be your snugglebug lapdog. He does has a high prey drive, so would likely do best in a household with no cats. We are looking for an active, dog experienced family for this sweet boy. COURTESY POST: PEPPERMINT PIG IS HELPING TO FIND THIS PUP A FOREVER HOME. THIS IS A DOG IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT NEEDS YOUR HELP! Walnut's owner currently lives in an apartment and wants him to be able to be able to have a much larger space, including a yard, to call his own. Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue is assisting Walnut's current owner with re-homing. Walnut is not currently in a Peppermint Pig Foster home, but we will be handling the screening of adoption applications and meet and greets. We want to make sure Walnut finds his perfect forever home. $165 rehoming donation kindly requested (made to Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue 501c3 so we can continue to help other animals in need).
