AT PEPPERMINT PIG ANIMAL RESCUE, WE UPDATE ALL OF OUR PETS ON A REGULAR BASIS. IF YOU SEE ME HERE, I AM AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. PLEASE READ MY BIO BELOW TO LEARN MORE ABOUT ME AND HOW TO APPLY TO ADOPT 🙂 Meet Eva: 10 years old, 60 pounds, spayed female bully/pittie mix. Available for Adoption! This sweet girl was dumped off at a kill shelter by her humans when they decided to move out of state. Eva has given nothing but love and loyalty to her people her whole life, only to be discarded like she was nothing. Eva hasn't let it get her down though, to say she is the sweetest dog in the world is an understatement. This girl absolutely adores people, children (8+ please) and even gets along well with dog savvy cats. She is happy and has a joyful spirit and gentle nature and she is looking forward to sharing her love with her new family when she finds them. Eva is house broken and does well in a crate if needed, but she is content to just lounge on the couch. She prefers to be your one and only and have all your love, attention and snuggles, so she would do best if she were the only dog in the home. $165 Adoption Fee. All Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested, current on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. A Fenced Yard is preferred to adopt, but Eva will do well if all activities take place on a leash after some leash training. Please see our Fenced Yard Requirements tab on our website for more information, here: https://peppermintpiganimalrescue.org/fenced-yard-requirements/ Our adoption area, unless otherwise specified in their bio, is within a two hour radius of Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue for adult dogs, and within a one hour radius for puppies. Available for Adoption: Meet Fin! Fin is a 4 year old neutered male, black lab mix. 60 lbs, gluten allergy requires grain free food, good with dogs, cats and children 10+ COURTESY POST : PEPPERMINT PIG IS HELPING TO FIND FIN A FOREVER HOME. THIS IS NOT OUR DOG, BUT A DOG IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT NEEDS YOUR HELP! ANY INTEREST IN FIN WILL BE FORWARDED TO HIS CURRENT OWNER. Fin is a 4 year old, black lab mix. He is very intelligent, a quick learner and loves to cuddle. He is food motivated and enjoys walks and lounging in the sun. He genuinely just wants to be loved on and be a part of the pack. He would do best in a home with no small children as they make him anxious. He does well with other dogs and cats. He is essentially 60lb lap dog, the key to his heart is belly scratches and snacks. Fin is house trained and crate trained, but hasn’t needed to be crated in a couple years. Fin’s vet found that he has a Gluten allergy, needs to be fed grain free food. The owners love him so much but found he's just not a fit for a family with young children.  They are committed to finding his forever home with our help. Since this is a COURTESY POST, all applications will be forwarded to his current owner for review and they will make contact. Fin is not in a Peppermint Pig Foster home. $165 rehoming donation kindly requested (made to Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue 501c3 so we can continue to help other animals in need). Meet Gus! 2.5 years old, 70 pounds, Neutered male German Shepherd dog. Available for Adoption! Gus is a big ol' baby who is madly in love with chasing tennis balls. His other love is taking a snooze, sunning on the deck of his current home. He likes a lot of attention from his people and has a considerable amount of energy. JELLY BEAN
JELLY BEANJELLY BEANJELLY BEANJELLY BEANJELLY BEANJELLY BEAN
  • Pug, Mixed
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Housebroken
  • Vaccinations up to date

Meet Jelly Bean:: 7 years old, 35 pounds, 18 inches tall Spayed Female Pug mix. Available for Adoption! This squishy-faced lady is searching for her forever home! Jelly Bean absolutely loves taking walks, runs, car rides and hikes and is wonderful on a leash as long as no other dogs are anywhere in the vicinity. However, despite being such a smart girl, no one has been able to reduce her extremely high reactivity on a leash to other dogs so is best kept to exercising and playing with in a fenced yard. She is snuggly and loves her people very much. She is a very loyal girl. She loves to play with squeaky toys and tug toys and is very well potty trained, will sit, stay and lay down on command. She does great with the cats in her current home and is also good with children. Jelly Bean was adopted from us in 2020 and her family absolutely ADORES her, but little Jelly Bean had an incident where she darted outside off leash through the front door and she and a neighbor's dog got into a tiff. Her adopter was injured in the hand (by the other dog) breaking up the fight as often happens but doesn’t want to risk that happening again so her adopters are returning her to us (per our adoption contract). Her forever home needs to take steps to ensure that Jelly Bean cannot dart out the front door by using a baby gate or putting her in a different room before opening the front door. When introduced properly, Jelly Bean does okay with other dogs, but she is not interested in companionship with them, so she may do best as the only dog in the home. Jelly Bean would love to have a quiet home in a rural area where she can enjoy her life just making her humans happy! $165 Adoption Fee. All Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested, current on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. Along with other criteria evaluated in the adoption application, a Fenced Yard is required to adopt. Meet Luna! This is a COURTESY POST: Peppermint Pig is helping to find this dog a forever home. This is not our dog, but a dog in the community that needs your help! Any interest in them will be forwarded to the current foster home. Luna was rescued by wonderful former adopters of ours, finding her running stray and being abused at a local gas station. Thankfully that night they were able to lure her to them with some beef jerky and she nervously came into their car so they could take her home for the night. Fast forward 6 weeks, Luna's foster family has readied her for her new spoiled life! Luna is now house and crate trained, socialized, spayed, vaccinated and is happy and healthy to find her forever family. They report that everyone that meets her thinks she is just precious! Luna is very playful with humans and other dogs. She loves to cuddle on the couch and generally likes being around her humans. She is also content to just sit or lay nearby. Luna is mostly good at matching the energy level of the room, playful when others are playing, lazy if other dogs are just lounging. She loves chew toys like nylabones or Kongs and is mostly quiet in the house, barking only when she is outside and gets startled by something. All pets listed here are updated regularly to reflect their availability. AT PEPPERMINT PIG ANIMAL RESCUE, WE UPDATE ALL OF OUR PETS ON A REGULAR BASIS. IF YOU SEE ME HERE, I AM AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. PLEASE READ MY BIO BELOW TO LEARN MORE ABOUT ME AND HOW TO APPLY TO ADOPT 🙂 Meet Rowan aka Earnest:: 5 years old, 60 pounds, Neutered male Pyrenees/Shepherd/Chow type/mix. Available for Adoption! Rowan, who we are now calling Earnest, has found himself homeless after his family raised him from a puppy and he was loving and loyal to them for over 4 years before they abandoned him over their own neglect to provide proper supervision in their invisible fenced yard and had a very minor incident with someone who came into the yard unannounced. Earnest loved his family so much and he has been depressed and sad ever since they left him, with only fleeting moments of playfulness here and there. Earnest takes some significant time to warm up to his new people, but he does love to be pet and loved once he knows you're his friend. Earnest would do best as an only dog in the home, in a one person household with no children. $165 Adoption Fee. Please consider sponsoring Earnest's adoption fee by going to the DONATE tab on our website, here: https://peppermintpiganimalrescue.org/donate/ All Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested, current on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Meet Skittles: 9 month old neutered male chihuahua mix, 7 lbs. He is currently trained to pee pads and is not yet house trained but his foster family is working on that with him. We will update his post as we learn more about him from his foster family. Update: Skittles has really come out of his scared little shell since being with us! So playful and full of kisses and cuddles. He is comfortable eating with his bowl right alongside our other dogs at mealtimes. We are working hard with walks and getting him more comfortable on a leash, with great progress! He is now walking as part of the pack. $250 Adoption Fee. AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Meet Smartie: neutered male chihuahua mix, 9 months old, 7 lbs. This months group of dogs came from our rescue partners in rural Kentucky and are all named for Halloween candy. Smartie is sweet and good with other dogs. Smartie came to us trained only to pee pads. Living up to his name, Smartie has made HUGE gains in only 3 weeks with his foster family. Even though they have a fenced yard they started the housebreaking by teaching him how to be leashed up (which is a new experience for him but ultimately helped him feel more secure) and gave him enough time to explore and he now goes potty outside in their fenced yard. He still has no signal for when he needs to go so he is more housebroken to a schedule but it’s still big progress for him. Originally coming from a hoarding situation with far too many dogs, Smartie was initially fearful of coming out of his crate or being petted but has now learned the routine of both of those things. Yet it took him until this week to really get used to relying on his person for affection and food and comfort. Smartie previously would sit on your lap if you went and picked him up and his foster mom was gaining his trust by hand feeding him so he’s as gentle as can be. However, left to his own devices he was keeping to himself. This week, his foster mom reports that he’s wagging his tail when she comes home and he’s wrapping his front legs around her neck and licking her all over her face and trying to kiss her on the mouth! He loves to jump onto her lap when she’s sitting on the couch. He hasn’t bonded as closely with her husband and is scared when guests come over but he’s making steady progress. While the gains can seem slow to us humans when he’s so cute and you just want to see signs that he’s happy and each day must be started as patiently with him as the day before. He is so sweet, young, and has only been in his foster home for 3 weeks so we are certain he can learn to find his puppy joy and truly learn to trust people maybe for the first time in his life. Adopters need to keep in mind that as long as he seems content, then as a pet parent, they are doing what HE needs. Exposing him to different experiences is great and it appears that he is finally opening up (and most rescue dogs do!) but it takes time, patience and an understanding that ultimately his idea of happy may not match ours. Dogs are quirky that way. He could certainly benefit from a forever home with another well adjusted dog friend to guide him on this journey (he’s an only dog currently in his foster home). We will continue to update his post as we learn more about his progress from his foster family. $250 Adoption Fee. All Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested, current on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. A Fenced Yard is required to adopt. AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Meet Tootsie Pup: female spayed Shih tzu mix, 7 months old, 6 lbs. This month’s group of dogs came from our rescue partners in rural Kentucky and are all named for Halloween candy. Tootsie Pup is an adorable Shih tzu mix that came to us very timid and scared, trained to pee pads that only wanted to sleep all day. She didn’t like cats and would growl and try to go after big dogs (let’s face it, when you’re only 6 lbs, any dog over 25 lbs is a big scary dog to you and Tootsie’s original foster had some dogs that were 60lbs). Once Tootsie was transferred to a quieter very patient foster she still seemed to be taking only baby steps but then suddenly she started making improvements by leaps and bounds and her foster could barely contain her excitement in her updates! Tootsie slowly learned to trust and rely on a person and the comfort that comes with a schedule. Tootsie is now very affectionate and loves to snuggle with her foster by laying on her foster’s chest with her head tucked under her foster’s chin or cuddle beside her on the couch, either by herself or curled up next to one of the foster’s other small dogs. Tootsie will even let you carry her around. She’s a quiet girl and doesn’t make a peep (no barking) unless you accidentally were to squish her or catch some of her long hair while trying to sit next to her on the couch. The most amazing news is that Tootsie now goes outside with the foster’s other dog’s to go potty! A month ago that seemed impossible to imagine because Tootsie acted like the outside was a world she had never seen before! The patience of her foster and the example of the other little dogs in her foster home helped give Tootsie the confidence to venture outside (even when the temps dropped and we got snow). We would say Tootsie will need consistent housebreaking reinforcement in a new home and that she currently has benefited to being housetrained to a schedule, being let out often, and being crated at night. Tootsie would do well in a home that has other well adjusted little dogs with chill personalities t. She seems to be able to fit in just fine with the 2 at her foster home. She does need a patient Adopter that will understand that it may take time to build a loving bond with them but then she will be just as affectionate as she has become with her foster in less than a month’s time. She’s not with any small children currently but seems to prefer a somewhat calm house but has opened up beautifully to new experiences and could probably handle kids that have experience with small dogs. $250 Adoption Fee All puppies are dewormed, started on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. All puppies will be adopted with current, age appropriate vaccines. Tootsie Pup has also been neutered. Adoption Radius is within 2 hours of Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue.
