Meet Charlie! Charlie is a neutered, male kitty estimated at 2 years old. Charlie currently weighs about 12 pounds. Charlie is a big, orange striped tom cat, long and tall! He had a less than ideal situation before he came to our rescue, living outside and having to fend for himself a lot. It is obvious that he is smart but was deprived of some essential learning situations as a kitten. Charlie's foster reports, "He craves affection, jumping and standing like a rabbit while rubbing his head in your hands to get some good scratches in. He LOVES to plop down beside his person to spend some time in close proximity." Charlie loves his scratching post and has never laid a paw on the furniture. He is pleasant, polite, super smart, companionable, and a pleasure to have around! Charlie has stolen the hearts of his foster family and all the volunteers who are rooting for him to find his loving forever home. Are you looking for an affectionate partner in crime to plop down next to you? Meet Clyde! Clyde is a 3-4 year old, neutered male, Terrier mix. He currently weighs in at 12 pounds. Clyde is a loving and playful little man! He had a rough start to life, being transferred from home to shelter, to 2 more homes before coming to our rescue. But just a few weeks at his foster home, feeling loved and secure, has brought out the best in this little guy! His foster reports that he is "her little shadow," following her from room to room in the house and snuggling up on the couch at night. One of Clyde's most favorite things to do is toss his kong toy up in the air, playing easily by himself. Clyde is housebroken, crate trained and walks well on a leash. He has met other dogs and is playful and comfortable in their presence. He does bark at strangers, and is extremely protective of his person. Because of his protective nature, we are labeling this boy as a special needs case. Clyde needs a dog savvy adopter who can navigate small and sometimes fiesty dogs. Clyde's foster crates him nearby overnight, but allows him to free roam during the day with no issues whatsoever. Looking for a small friend that will always be happy to see you enter the door? Meet the Music Icon Pups! These adorable poodle mix puppies are 19 weeks old as of 9/3/24. Dolly's foster reports that she LOVES water and swimming in her little pool, and would thrive with an active family. All of the pups seem to have inherited their completely sweet demeanor from their mother, Roxanne. Roxanne came to us through another local dog rescue that couldn’t turn a blind eye to the suffering of this emaciated momma dog and her pups. Roxanne was abandoned in a backyard after her owners moved away and left her there. She was covered in hundreds of ticks and left to starve to death. Even in the most extreme conditions, Roxanne’s devotion to nursing her pups continued. We are so thankful that other rescues helped them find their way to us so we could help them. After lots of extra food, timely grooming and tons of baths, Roxanne and her pups are all healthy, happy and full of love. Their foster reports a few details about each of the babies: “They are all super sweet. Bowie loves attention and begs for affection. Dolly is the calmest puppy, mostly spending her time nearby her momma Roxanne. Jelly Roll likes to play with other dogs in the foster home and Reba is the lovebug of the pack, who craves to be held and rocked like a baby. The pups most favorite toy to wrestle around with is the rope toy. Interested in providing a stable and loving forever home for one of these deserving pooches? Meet Doris Day!! Miss Doris Day is just under two years old (estimated birth date is 8/22/22), spayed female American Exotic Bully. She currently weighs in at 45 pounds and is very special girl indeed! Doris's story starts out with a rough beginning. We received a call from a local vet asking us to help out a sweet dog in desperate need of surgery. Turns out that her owner, a breeder of exotic bullies, upon finding out that she had a prolapsed rectum, decided to wait instead of taking her immediately to a vet professional to be seen. By the time that she was in the vet office, so much damage had been done that the vets recommended emergency surgery to repair the damage. The breeder opted for euthanizing this sweet girl, even though she was a beautiful young girl of only 6 months, with a whole life ahead of her. Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue stepped up and gave this girl a second chance. At this point Doris has undergone 3 surgeries to repair her bowels. She is on a special diet and will likely need to be for the rest of her life. Doris needs a compassionate patient adopter who will work with her medical issues and treat her like the queen that she is. Her personality is the most wonderful, loving, excitable little warthog that you will ever meet! She gets along so wonderfully with other dogs, playfully running and wrestling with the rest of the crowd. If you are looking for a love bug, a snuggler, and someone to greet you with enthusiasm each time you walk into a room, Miss Doris Day is the girl for you! $350 Adoption Fee All Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested, current on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. Meet Fern! Fern is a male bob tail kitty estimated at 5 months old and weighs a little over 5 pounds. Fern’s foster reports that “although Fern might look like he is contemplating the best way to dispose of your body, he is actually a very loving and playful kitten! He absolutely loves playing with fingers and toes and loves to play attack the foot. He will start to purr as soon as you pick him up and will continue to do so while you love on him or even as he commences to chew on your appendages. He joyfully wrestles with hands and feet. We just love Fern and all his sweet rambunctious energy and his rough and tumble play. My 5 year old loves to cradle and rock him like a baby. He loves treats and will run to come get them as soon as he hears your fingers touch the bag." Fern has had monthly flea prevention, is microchipped and has been dewormed. He has been combo tested with negative results and will be neutered, and up to date on all his vaccinations at the time of adoption. Our partner vets have signed off with a clean bill of health! Fern and his sibling are playful kittens that are looking for their forever families! She also loves to play, “do I fit” and will try and get into any container left available. Feyre is quietly confident and is comfortable with her foster family's dog and even loves the toddler. Meet Gabby! Gabby is a spayed senior female Chihuahua mix. She is a mature lady at 16 years of age and currently weighs in at 20 pounds. Gabby came to us as an owner surrender from an elderly owner. She was very sad to give her up, but realized that with her upcoming move to a nursing home, she wouldn't be able to care for her anymore. This little girl has been moved around quite a bit recently, until she came to stay with one of our awesome foster families. Gabby is remarkably well adjusted and friendly to all... Humans, dogs and cats alike! Don't let that age number fool you, Gabby's fosters report she still can get the zoomies from time to time out in the back yard. Gabby's foster reports, "She coexists with other dogs, but doesn't seem too interested in being friends. She definitely LOVES her food and could lose some pounds. She's not a fan of the crate but settles down and is quiet. She also LOVES the orthopedic dog bed! She appears to be potty trained and alerts us at the door when she needs to go out. She is slowly starting to follow us around the house, (in typical small dog fashion), and has started seeking us out for attention and lovins!" Want to offer a soft landing for this sweet senior lady? We would love to give her the best last home she'll ever need. Meet Gum-beaux! Gum-beaux (Bo) is a male kitten estimated around 5 months and weighs a little over 6 pounds. Gum-beaux's foster says he is just about as sweet of a kitten as can be! He and his sister (Minastrone) came to their foster after being found in a garage. They both are a little shy and still learning that humans are friends and not scary monsters. Bo may be wary at first, but once he knows you have food, pets, snuggles and love for him, he will be your constant furry love ball. Although he may not be the brightest crayon in the box, he is definitely the sweetest! He loves snuggles and pets and will purr almost as soon as you look at him. If you can give Bo a home and just a little extra patience and understanding, he will reward you with a lifetime snugglebug best friend. Meet Henrietta! Henrietta is a 13 week old (as of August 17th), black rottweiler-mix puppy who is available for adoption (in the next week) through Peppermint Pig! As of August 17th, she weighs 23lbs. Henrietta and her siblings were rejected by their mom when they were only a few weeks old because she didn't know how to care for them, and they were unable to thrive. She's still a petite girl, but she's starting to catch up, and we do expect she'll be a larger dog when she's full-grown! From her foster: "Henrietta loves to play, she does well with all of our dogs, and even listens and doesn't escalate when they occasionally correct her. She has a ton of energy, and does need both physical and mental activity to help curb some of her puppy behaviors (chewing!), and would do well in a household that has at least one other dog willing to play or very active humans. She sleeps through the night in her crate without a peep, and is working on her potty training. She's also doing great learning basic commands like paw and sit. She does really well around new people, but hasn't had any time around kids just yet. Since she is a chewer, and will occasionally try to chew on you too, she would likely do best around adults or older kids." Interested in providing a stable and loving forever home for this sweet girl? Please submit an application with the Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue! $195 Adoption Fee All puppies are dewormed, started on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. All puppies will be adopted with current, age-appropriate vaccines, given by Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue. We have a strict one-hour puppy adoption radius, puppy adopters must be within one hour of Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue. Please see our Adoption Radius tab on our website for more info, here: https://peppermintpiganimalrescue.org/adoption-radius/ Along with other criteria evaluated in the adoption application, a Fenced Yard is required to adopt. Please see our Fenced Yard Requirements tab on our website for more information, here: https://peppermintpiganimalrescue.org/fenced-yard-requirements/ To complete our easy online adoption application, please visit our website at PeppermintPigAnimalRescue.org. Meet the husky duo, Cece and Bandit! These full-grown huskies are 5 (Cece) and 7 (Bandit) years old Cee Cee is a fairly timid dog, but she loves to snuggle. She also enjoys sitting for treats and burning off all that husky energy with her zoomies. Bandit is calm and is ALWAYS looking for love. He will give his paw and sit on command with treats. They really enjoy each other's company, and at this time, we will be trying to keep them together. Huskies, as is true to their breed, are high energy dogs, and these two are no exception. These pups would benefit from an experienced adopter, with previous active breed experience. Cece and Bandit have both displayed a high prey drive and herding instincts, and should not live live in a household with cats, smaller dogs, or young children. Meet the Music Icon Pups! These adorable poodle mix puppies are 12 weeks old as of 6/15/24. They are currently weighing in between 5 and 10 pounds and are now ready for adoption! We have 2 male pups, Bowie and Jelly Roll and 1 female, Dolly. Please submit an application with the Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue! $195 Adoption Fee All puppies are dewormed, started on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Meet Karl! 11 months old as of 1/14/23, Karl is neutered. Great Pyrenees/Boxer mix. 2 hr adoption radius. Currently weighs over 50 lbs. Great Pyrenees were bred centuries ago to work with shepherds and herding dogs in the Pyrenees Mountains of Spain. The dog’s job was to watch the flock and deter predators, whether wolves, bears, or livestock rustlers. Great Pyrenees are an immensely powerful working dog, bred for their protective natures. Their courage when defending the flock has always been legendary. Karl, as is true to his breed, is a vigilant guardian of his home and family. He would benefit from an experienced adopter, with previous large breed and/or Great Pyr experience. Karl does well with other dogs, especially puppies, and would do well with another calm centered dog in the home that can help him gain confidence in new situations. Karl is potty trained and crate trained. Given the opportunity he would love to sleep in bed with his human! He is very sweet and lovable, and completely devoted to the people he feels are his family. He does not always do well with strangers, and for this reason we are looking for a quiet home with no children and a LOW traffic level of visitors. $195 Adoption Fee All puppies are dewormed, started on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. Karl is also neutered. All puppies will be adopted with current, age appropriate vaccines, given by Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue. Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue will provide their puppy series DAPP vaccines, given at 6, 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age. Karl has received all of his puppy series of shots. The spay/neuter and puppy vaccines are included with the puppy adoption fee. Karl is already neutered. Karl has a 2 hour adoption radius because vaccinations and neuter are complete. On application, check that you are adopting a puppy but if you live within 2 hr radius (via Google maps from your address to ours 8454 Beechmont Ave Cincinnati, Ohio 45255, then click yes that you are within the radius even though the question is asking if you are an hour away) Please see our Adoption Radius tab on our website for more info, here: https://peppermintpiganimalrescue.org/adoption-radius/ Along with other criteria evaluated in the adoption application, a Fenced Yard is required to adopt. Meet Katie Ledecky! Katie Ledecky is the momma to our 6 Olympic champion pups! Katie is a spayed female, Poodle + Setter mix. She currently weighs around 55 pounds and is estimated at 2-4 years of age. Katie Ledecky came to us through our southern rescue partner, Love of Paws. We are so thankful that other rescues helped her and her pups find their way to us so we could help them find their forever homes. Her pups were quite young when they arrived, and our foster family provided a loving home for Katie to raise the pups until they were done nursing. After lots of extra food and love, Katie Ledecky and her pups are all healthy, happy and full of spunk. Her foster reports that, "She is smart and knows simple commands. She is crate trained and she LOVES everyone she meets!" Poodle mixes are considered friendly, energetic, even-tempered and smart. We are looking for loving families who have experience with energetic, large breed dogs. Any children or cats in the home must be accustomed to living with dogs. Poodles can be high energy dogs that have FALSELY been made famous for having hypoallergenic coats. We do not adopt dogs out under the impression, expectations or claims that they are non or hypo-allergenic, and/or non or low shedding. Katie may require regular grooming since she will shed, which can and will cause matting and skin issues if her coat is not properly groomed and cared for. The source of pet allergies is often a protein that's in the saliva and urine of dogs and cats, and not their fur/hair. Katie may need regular brushing at home and professional grooming every 6 to 9 weeks. Interested in providing a stable and loving forever home for this sweet momma? Please submit an application with the Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue! $250 Adoption Fee We have a 2-hour dog adoption radius. Meet Rickey! Rickey is a neutered male Beagle. He is estimated at 5+ years of age and currently weighs 53 pounds. Rickey came to us from our southern rescue partner, who received him as an owner surrender. Unfortunately, due to health issues, his owners weren't able to care for Rickey anymore. This boy is so sweet! He is kind and gentle and good with every single person he meets. Rickey's foster reports, "He’s awesome in the car, on a leash and loves his humans like no other." Rickey is quite overweight for a small framed beagle and is currently dieting in his new foster home. They are taking him on 3 walks a day to get him down to the slim and trim guy we know he can be! We are looking for active adopters that are willing to walk Rickey at least twice a day and children in the home must be at least 8 years of age. Meet Max! Max is a 1 year old, neutered male, Greyhound mix, weighing in at just over 45 pounds! Max had a pretty rough start to life. Due to previous neglect, Max was extremely underweight and terribly timid. He's now living in a foster home with two other greyhounds and an incredible foster family who is helping him to come out of his shell. Max is working hard on doing his business outside, but he's not quite there yet. Leashes aren't his favorite things, but once they're on, he walks well without much pulling. Due to his timid nature and ability to climb and run like no other, he needs to be taken out on a leash at all times while he is acclimating to a new space. Max's fosters report that he is doing good while being crated, as long as he has toys to keep him occupied. He LOVES rubber squeaky toys and hard bones. At night Max is getting the hang of sharing the bed and he's a really good cuddler. He does have a pretty good bark, but seldom uses it to express himself. Greyhounds have been bred for coursing, racing and hunting. They are known to live at least 10 to 14 years and exhibit a temperament with the following characteristics; intelligent, athletic, affectionate, gentle, quiet and even tempered. Max, as is true to his breed, is a extremely fast runner. He would benefit from an experienced adopter, with previous rescue and racing breed experience. Meet Mina-strone! Minastrone is a long haired kitty estimated around 5 months and weighs in about 5 pounds. Miss Mina-strone is a dainty little lady who likes to get to know the humans before she will associate herself with them. She is the shyer of the two siblings (brother is Gum-beaux), but with patience and understanding will come out of her shell and be the sweet little lady she truly is. She is incredibly soft and a joy to pet, she is just still wary of the humans and how loud and unexpected they are so likes to have places she can hide. Even though she may be a little timid, she loves to play with wand toys and loves her canned food. Mina plays with her foster siblings wonderfully and let's her foster mom and her 5 year old daughter pet her and has even been pet by the 2 year old! The progress she has made in the weeks at her foster home has been HUGE and with the right forever home with humans who can show her love and patience, she has the potential to be the sweetest and softest little love bundle. These kittens will be neutered, up to date on monthly flea prevention, will be microchipped and dewormed. They have been combo tested with negative results and are up to date on all vaccinations at this time. Why buy a kitten for sale when you can adopt and save a life? $75 Adoption fee or 2 for $100 To complete our easy online CAT adoption application, please visit our website at PeppermintPigAnimalRescue.org Link to CAT Adoption Application: https://peppermintpiganimalrescue.org/adoption-center/cats-adoption-contract/ Kittens will come current on age-appropriate vaccines, dewormed, started on flea and heartworm prevention and will be spayed/neutered at our vet when they reach the appropriate age. Meet Ollie! This super sweet boy is 4 months old as of 9/`13/24. He is currently weighing in at around 26 pounds (as of 9/28) and is ready for adoption! Ollie and his brother Opie were part of a much larger litter from rural southern Kentucky. These boys were the last two to find rescue placement, and for the life of us, we can't figure out why! They are both THE sweetest little lab pups you'll meet! Each were placed in loving foster homes with other dogs and their fosters can't say enough about them! Ollie's foster family reports, "Ollie and my young pup Charlie, these two are thick as thieves!! Whomever adopts Ollie, it would be great if there was another playful pup in the home, he loves companionship. My Charlie is highly energetic, more so than Ollie and he still does so well. He’s also very sweet with another older dog in our house, but ignores her mostly, (which she prefers)." Ollie has had a couple potty accidents in the home, but not too many and does his job outside pretty quickly. This boy is already doing pretty well on the leash and has spending time in the crate while his foster is at work. Ollie is very very sweet and loves people of all ages. He is quite the gentle puppy. Right now he is unknown on how he would react to cats. Overall, he’s a very good boy, and the foster family reports, "We like him a WHOLE LOT!" Interested in providing a stable and loving forever home for Ollie? Please submit an application with the Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue! $195 Adoption Fee All puppies are dewormed, started on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. Moe and Larry are always hanging around inside our Thrift Store greeting everyone who comes in. Our feline friends are no longer available for adoption, due to going so long with no adoption interest, they have made their home in our store and are quite comfortable there with lots of love and attention from our volunteers and shoppers 🙂 If you would like to help us care for any of our feline friends, please feel free to drop of donations of Fresh Step clumping cat litter or Temptations brand Cat Treats. Meet Piper! Piper is a young female, Hound / Doberman / Husky mix! She is around 50lbs and will be turning 1 year old on October 12th! Piper is a sweet, adventurous, and playful puppy who is potty and crate trained, and is continuing to work on puppy manners in her foster home. She is incredibly smart and thrives off of consistency. While Piper is still working on her manners (she is a puppy, after all), she has done great with both cats and elementary-school-aged kids she has met! She even loves to say "good morning" to her foster's grouchy hedgehog, and is calm and gentle when he is out (though ALWAYS supervised). Piper LOVES hiking, swimming, and playing with the sprinkler. She also loves shredding cardboard and chewing on her benebones when she needs some alone time. She can be slow to warm up to other dogs but hasn't met one she hasn't come around to! Piper and the rest of our P puppy litter (who have all been adopted) came from an owner surrender situation in December. Sadly, they did not have their companion pets at home spayed or neutered, ended up with an accidental litter of pups and no financial means or ability to care for them. As a no-kill animal rescue, we are happy to help find forever homes for puppies in need like these guys. Please remember how often this type of situation happens and like Bob Barker, PLEASE spread the word about how important it is to have your pets spayed and neutered! $195 Adoption Fee All puppies are dewormed, started on heartworm and flea prevention, and microchipped. All puppies will be adopted with current, age appropriate vaccines, given by Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue. Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue will provide their puppy series DAPP vaccines, given at 6, 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age. *PIPER HAS RECEIVED ALL PUPPY VACCINATIONS* Puppy adopters will also be required to bring the puppy to our vet for their spay/neuter surgery after they receive their 16 week vaccination from us. The spay/neuter and puppy vaccines are included with the puppy adoption fee. *PIPER IS ALREADY SPAYED* Because Piper is up to date on vaccines and is spayed, she has a two-hour adoption radius. Meet Roxanne! Roxanne is a female standard poodle mix. She is estimated at 3 years of age and currently weighs around 45lbs, though she is a little underweight. Their foster reports a few details about each of the babies: Interested in providing a stable and loving forever home for one of these deserving pooches? Please submit an application with the Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue! We do not adopt dogs out under the impression, expectations or claims that they are non or hypo-allergenic, and/or non or low shedding. Roxanne will likely require regular grooming since she will shed, which can and will cause matting and skin issues if his coat is not properly groomed and cared for. The source of pet allergies is often a protein that's in the saliva and urine of dogs and cats, and not their fur/hair. Roxanne will likely need regular brushing at home and professional grooming every 6 to 9 weeks. $250 Adoption Fee We have a 2-hour dog adoption radius. Meet Wally! Wally is a 4-5 year old, neutered male, Pitsky (Terrier and Husky mix). He currently weighs in about 45 pounds. Wally came to us from a distraught lady, who found him starving and likely dumped in a supermarket parking lot. Wally was terrified! Since Wally has moved into an experienced foster home with several other dogs, he has gradually started to warm up and is gaining some much needed confidence. This petite, lean and muscular boy is SUPER sweet and absolutely loves to play with other dogs. Wally is not quite adapted to a crate, but is slowly getting there. He prefers to be a lap dog. We are looking for dog savvy adopters, willing to give this boy time, patience and above all else, the LOVE he so deserves! Meet Walnut! Walnut is a 1 year and 4 month old neutered male, mixed breed pup. He currently weighs 45 pounds. What an amazing dog Walnut is! This guy truly deserves the best life! He has already completed 6 weeks of training with Cincinnati Dog Training Academy and is ready to find his new family. He is loving and playful and active! He is full of energy and would definitely do best with a large yard, and plenty of room to run. Walnut does not believe in personal space, and wants nothing more than to be your snugglebug lapdog. He does has a high prey drive, so would likely do best in a household with no cats. We are looking for an active, dog experienced family for this sweet boy. COURTESY POST: PEPPERMINT PIG IS HELPING TO FIND THIS PUP A FOREVER HOME. THIS IS A DOG IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT NEEDS YOUR HELP! Walnut's owner currently lives in an apartment and wants him to be able to be able to have a much larger space, including a yard, to call his own. Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue is assisting Walnut's current owner with re-homing. Walnut is not currently in a Peppermint Pig Foster home, but we will be handling the screening of adoption applications and meet and greets. We want to make sure Walnut finds his perfect forever home. $165 rehoming donation kindly requested (made to Peppermint Pig Animal Rescue 501c3 so we can continue to help other animals in need).
